Blue Tinted Screen Issue on Aluminum Macbook Pro
I know many of my customers use the newest generation Macbook and Macbook Pro laptops with Ableton Live, so I thought I’d pass this on. After a little more than a year owning the Macbook Pro, my screen randomly took on a blue tint. My immediate reaction was panic and worry considering that the laptop was a sizable investment, but thankfully a little bit of searching around on Google revealed that this is a common problem. The general consensus that I’ve seen is that it’s some issue with fast user switching, but of course that’s not very important to someone with a blue tinted screen!
The fix is simple: Just open System preferences (I use cmd+spacebar to open Spotlight and then start typing “Displays”) and click on the option labeled “Displays” to open your display preferences. Once you do this, your screen should go back to normal immediately. I hope this is useful to you guys as it freaked me out when I saw it. I’m just happy that it’s not a hardware issue.

Yeah I started getting this on my 2yr old MBP. I found if I connect or disconnect the DVI to my external monitor that seems to fix it too. Glad im not alone, thanks this is a slightly better solution.
Thanks for this. Not far enough down the line for this to happen.
Can I just clarify what first few letters to type?
Thanks John
Great site by the way
Good catch, John. I should have been more clear about that and I’ve updated the post with a little more detail. Just start typing “Displays” in the spotlight search and the option should come up in the dropdown list.
Nice one Nick, Thanks
